• Do I need an insurance licence to access the APIs?

Yes. Access to Insurance Authority APIs requires a valid licence or registration issued by the IA. The licence type determines which API products you may subscribe to.

  • What is domain whitelisting and why is it required?

Domain whitelisting is a security control where the IA registers your organisation's domain before any developer from your organisation can create a portal account. Only users with email addresses from an approved domain can self-register.

  • Is IP whitelisting mandatory?

Yes. IP whitelisting is required for both Sandbox and Production environments. API calls from non-whitelisted IP addresses will be rejected. Share your server's outbound IP addresses with our team after your account is created.

  • How long does onboarding take?

From submitting your access request to receiving sandbox credentials typically takes 5 to 10 business days, depending on the API products requested and completeness of your application. APIs requiring additional license verification may take longer.

  • Where can I find detailed API documentation and specifications?

Detailed endpoint documentation, request/response schemas, and full API specifications are available in the API Catalog once your portal account is approved. The catalog covers insurance API field definitions, error codes, and integration guides.

  • Is there a sandbox environment to test APIs before going live?

Yes. All approved organizations receive access to a sandbox environment. The sandbox mirrors the production API structure and security policies, allowing full end-to-end integration testing without affecting live data.
